We aim to make mathematics an enjoyable and relevant subject where all students experience success and develop their mathematical skills and understanding. All areas of the National Curriculum are covered including work on number, shape, measurement and data handling. The emphasis is on applying mathematics to real life situations such as using money in the local community, weighing and measuring real objects and telling the time.
All lessons have a practical or sensory aspect. Students work individually, with a partner, in small groups or on a whole class activity depending on the topic and individual student need. Students are encouraged to think for themselves and develop their problem solving abilities.
