Dear Parents and Carers

I’m delighted to announce that Dr Chris Lingard, currently Headteacher of a Special School in Pendle, Lancashire will be taking up the Headteacher role at Ravenscliffe from 1 September 2020. Under her leadership her school in Pendle progressed from a ‘Good’ judgement to ‘Outstanding’, in their most recent Ofsted inspection in 2018. This will be her third Headship. She has also worked previously as a senior Local Authority officer and as an Educational Psychologist.

Chris worked with us 6 years ago as she supported Jo Hague with the design of the school response to the SEND reforms that came into play in 2014 which ultimately influenced the ‘Outcome‘ driven curriculum at the heart of the current learning offer in Ravenscliffe.

Chris loved her time with us and she has emphasised that it was the lure of working with our team and families that influenced her decision to leave her current job: a school where she is clearly very happy and very well respected.

Chris is clearly a highly intelligent and driven lady. Most important of all she genuinely cares about people, especially students and their families and staff. There was a real connect across all members of our selection team. Our Governors, the current leadership team and the 5 students who interviewed her all recognised Chris as the best candidate. There were NO dissenting voices to this appointment!

My personal opinion? Chris will be fantastic! Chris has high standards and will want to keep Ravenscliffe as a beacon of great practice. I will love working with her and intend to do all I can to support her to make a great impact at Ravenscliffe. If we all make that commitment from the outset then I think the school has a fantastic future under her leadership.

Hopefully you will get to know her personally in the next few months. I hope all our families welcome this terrific news. Our season of uncertainty is now over. The future is bright!

Yours sincerely

MARTIN MOORMAN
