Staff from Ravenscliffe rounded off Sport Relief with a football match against a team from the St. Augustine’s Centre.
The St Augustine's centre works with refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants. After a keenly contested game, with the lead changing hands on a number of occasions, Team Ravenscliffe won by a narrow 9-8 scoreline. Headteacher Martin Moorman said "People often talk about the unifying nature of sport and this was very apparent as the two teams enjoyed a 17 goal thriller, with smiles and high fives aplenty, before, during and after the match. We now plan to play them again after Easter and I would think this is now a relationship which will continue to flourish into the future.
For over 40 years the St Augustine’s Centre has been welcoming anyone who needs help, advice or support to their base on Hanson Lane.
