They say variety is the spice of life and it most certainly is in the catering department at Ravenscliffe High School. Since the school declared catering independence from the Local Authority in April 2012, our mission statement has been clear; to provide a healthy variety of foods to hopefully improve both the education and the lifestyle of our students. In the intervening years the Catering Team have managed to achieve this and more and Ravenscliffe holds a national and international reputation for school meal excellence. 

Meet the Team

The team is split across the Skircoat Green and Spring Hall sites, however all colleagues work closely to ensure students receive a healthy, nutritious and fulfilling menu with options that offer both familiarity and challenge alike.

The team currently consists of Tony, Wendy, Michelle, Paula, Katie and Kate. All have been with us for a number of years, and their collective passion, enthusiasm and experience has helped drive the school’s catering provision forwards. They offer a friendly and welcoming service, encouraging our young people to make healthy choices that broaden their food horizons.

The Mission

  • To ensure pupils and staff receive nutritious, fresh, local and organic food at lunch and throughout the school day and that this food is delicious, seasonal, affordable and safe.
  • To create an enjoyable and sociable dining experience for students in school and a lively food culture within the school and the wider community.
  • To give pupils and the wider community the opportunity to acquire basic skills in planning, preparing and cooking healthy meals and an understanding of basic hygiene.
  • To provide opportunities for pupils to eat and cook with vegetables that they have grown themselves.

Café @ the Track

Café @ The Track is an exciting new venture for Ravenscliffe High School and Sports College. Opened in 2018, and based at our Spring Hall site, the café serves a wide range of homemade food, great coffee and amazing cakes. All produce used in the café is locally sourced and of the highest quality. Most importantly, Café @ The Track offers work experience and employment opportunities for young people with special educational needs. The school firmly believes that for some of its young people, a career in the catering industry is a realistic and achievable ambition. The café offers an ideal platform to develop and demonstrate their skills. Café @ The Track is a contemporary open space and an ideal venue for catching up with friends, celebrating with loved ones or meeting with colleagues. Our Suppliers

The Catering Team at Ravenscliffe are committed to providing healthy, tasty, sustainable and ethical meals for the Ravenscliffe Community. As part of this pledge, we only use local, sustainable food producers. We feel that using local suppliers ensures the long term sustainability of food production, and also has a positive financial impact on the local economy. Where possible we always try to source local or at least British produce. Moreover, all meat used in school is of the highest quality and meets stringent animal welfare standards.
