When we first launched our campaign, following a feasibility study in November 2013, we were faced with a mammoth task. Calderdale Council had very kindly committed £1.6m to the project, however initial architects estimates suggested the cost to build the centre was closer to £2.4m. Ultimately, by February 2017, this figure had risen to £2,806,821 for reasons outside of our control.
What ensued was a huge fundraising drive involving literally thousands of people from the local and wider community. Our collective efforts over the past 5 years have raised in excess of £1,700,000 which is simply astonishing. The links to the right tell part of that story.
This allowed the project to proceed to planning, tender and ultimately construction which commenced in July 2017. However we still have a shortfall in funding to equip the centre to the highest possible standards.
We can't wait to see what the next 12 months holds for us. If you would like to help us in our final push, we would love to hear from you; please do not hesitate to get in touch.
