On Saturday 4th October, Team Ravenscliffe (comprising 20 riders and 5 Students) successfully completed the Big Bike Bash; a 42 mile ride around the entire Tour De France route in Calderdale. The event was fantastic, and everyone had a brilliant day, despite the dire weather forecast. The finish in bright sunshine was a real magic moment. What a great reception from a great crowd of supporters at Spring Hall
It was fabulous to have Joe (one of our 6 Form students) as the centre of attention for a 5 mile plummet from Blackstone Edge to Ripponden on the wheelchair accessible, adapted Velo Plus Bike and then become the joint leader of the peloton with Megan from RHS to Spring Hall with the three 24 hour challenge riders: Bryn, Nick and Spencer who completed their epic 300 mile, 24 hour bike ride at the same time. Both rides joined together for a collective finish at Spring Hall. What a great effort by those 3 gents.
Thankyou to everyone who rode, drove, baked, brewed, sponsored and supported on the day,and to all those behind the scenes. The fact that we had such a great day was good enough, but the fact that additionally, this event raised over £9000 for the Ravenscliffe@SpringHall 'equip the building challenge' was remarkable. It has given a real 'autumn lift off' to the challenge of finding the next £500,000 to equip the building.
