Ravenscliffe High School and Sports College in Halifax has been judged by Ofsted in five successive inspections, as an outstanding Special School most recently in November 2017. The school caters for 185 pupils aged 11-19 with a wide range of learning and physical disabilities. Our numbers continue to rise. We are a two site school with our Sixth form based at Spring Hall in Halifax.
We are keen to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Premises Manager based at Skircoat Green who will be responsible for the management and development of the premises, site and associated facilities. The successful candidate will be skilled in carrying out reactive repair and maintenance work, including routine monitoring and testing of the school’s hydrotherapy pool for which training will be given. It will be necessary to have a flexible approach and a self-motivated, positive attitude with the ability to manage own workload.
You should have a thorough understanding of current Health and Safety legislation and COSHH regulations. You will play a vital role in the daily running of all site related matters including the provision of maintenance, janitorial, cleaning and security service. You will ensure the school building is well maintained and represent the school when dealing with contractors and suppliers. Applicants will ideally have experience of working in a maintenance role possibly in a similar environment or within the construction industry. The role may require split-shift working and will include some opening and closing of the site as well as assistance with occasional lettings and school events. Emergency call outs are considered part of your duties. You will be required to undergo training appropriate to the role. There will also be some support of students with SEN undertaking simple vocational skills and a need to drive school vehicles.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is hard working, flexible and proactive in keeping our site safe and attractive;
- Can use their own initiative and work independently;
- Has good practical maintenance and DIY skills;
- Has a good understanding of Health and Safety procedures as they relate to School premises, in particular Health, Safety, Fire Safety and COSHH regulations;
- Has excellent communication and organisation skills;
- Has good computer skills;
- Will act as a key holder, including call out for the alarm.
