On Saturday 4th July, the Big Bike Bash returns to the roads, hills and canals of Calderdale. Following the success of last years event, which raised an astonishing £9000 towards Ravenscliffe@SpringHall, we felt it was high time to get back in the saddle and pull on the lycra once more!
Leaving from Ravenscliffe, the team will head through Sowerby Bridge, into Ripponden and up to the top of Cragg Vale. The descent of Cragg Vale should be welcome rest after the leg sapping climb up Rochdale Road, although relief will be short-lived as the peloton moves through Mytholmroyd to Hebden Bridge before the ascent towards Oxenhope.
After reaching Oxenhope, the team are then on the way back to Halifax as they head over the moors into Wainstalls before descending into the town centre. A quick diversion out to Brighouse and back and then it's along the canal into Copley and the final climb back to School.
The route is 41.2miles long, and takes in some of the best parts of both the Tour De France and Tour de Yorkshire. It is hoped that throughout the route, the peleton will be joined by a student from Ravenscliffe riding with independently or with support on one of our adapted bikes.
We hope to raise £1000 towards the costs of equipping Ravenscliffe@SpringHall You can support the team by sponsoring them here. Every penny really will count!
